VANDERBIJLPARK. - A man here has landed in hot water after using the K-word in a WhatsApp message.

The social media user used the word when criticizing the recent blockade of the entrance to Rand Water by Emfuleni Local Municipality’s top officials.

"‘Nou staan die munisipaliteit by Rand Water (en betoog). Dis lyk al manier wat ‘n k***** verstaan,’ read the WhatsApp message.

This message caught the attention of the African National Congress (ANC) activists last week, who subsequently arranged a march to the Vanderbijlpark Police Station to lodge criminal charges against the culprit.

A charge of crimen injuria has been lodged by the acting Executive Mayor of Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM), Penny Sengoatsi with the Vanderbijlpark Police.

“It is an embarrassment to see that in a democratic country, we are still living with people calling others by unprintable words," said Sipho Mnguni, ANC Zonal chairperson.
