BRITTLE BONES FUNDRAISING - YOU TOO CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

VAAL TRIANGLE. - Brittle Bones South Africa is an organization dedicated to raising awareness Osteogenesis Imperfecta.

What Is Brittle Bone Disease?

Brittle bone disease is a disorder that results in fragile bones that break easily. It’s typically present at birth, but it only develops in children who have a family history of the disease.

The disease is often referred to as osteogenesis imperfecta (OI), which means “imperfectly formed bone.”

Brittle bone disease can range from mild to severe. Most cases are mild, resulting in few bone fractures. However, the severe forms of the disease can cause:

  • hearing loss

  • heart failure

  • spinal cord problems

  • permanent deformities

OI can sometimes be life-threatening if it occurs in babies either before or shortly after birth. Approximately one person in 20,000 will develop brittle bone disease. It occurs equally among males and females and among ethnic groups.

Brittle Bone South Africa is hosting a superhero fundraising-party for children with special needs/disabilities on March 04, 2018.

"On the day we would like to provide children with entertainment as well as lunch and we also have to cater for the parents attending. As you know I run this organisation on the support and generosity of the community therefore I would like to appeal for any donations towards making this day a success and one these children will not soon forget. In doing so we hope to take their minds of hospital appointments and any issues they might be facing for a few hours," said Brittle Bones South Africa CEO Rageema Livingstone.

Brittle Bones South Africa is fully tax exempt, so all donations can be written off (NPO- 2017/049499/08).

When you support the Brittle Bones South Africa Foundation, you know that your investment is working for the future of dozens of children and adults who live with OI.

Your support will help the Brittle Bones South Africa Foundation continue to improve the quality of life for people affected by OI through paying for treatments and a cure, education, awareness, and mutual support.

"We welcome any donations not just monetary to assist in making this a success," said Livingstone.
