4 SEX-WORKERS ARRESTED DURING OPERATION FIELA

VEREENIGING. – The South African Police Services, Department of Correctional Services and the Department of Immigration raided several suspicious shops, taverns and houses here over the past weekend.

The officials went on to pounce on houses allegedly utilized by sex-workers in Stanley Avenue.

At another residence, suspects with expired documentation were also arrested after they were found hiding under a bed.

It is alleged that a shop owner complained about how members of Correctional Services ill-treated him as they went straight into his shop to switch off CCTV cameras before ‘rewarding themselves’ by looting cash and seizing his cellphone.

Operation Fiela was conducted by the Visible Police under the leadership of their commander, Colonel Mncedisi Mabala.

Among illegal material confiscated during the five-hour operation were cigarettes, and fraudulent documents.
