EMFULENI MUNICIPALITY DUMPS AT ILLEGAL GARBAGE LOT

VANDERBIJLPARK. - An Emfuleni Local Municipality vehicle was spotted on Sunday (04 March) dumping rubbish at an illegal garbage lot here in Stephano Park.

As seen on photos, a vehicle from Emfuleni's Sport Department dumped multiple black bags full of refuse at this lot.

A local resident reported the incident to Emfuleni Local Municipality.

"Dear Emfuleni Local Muncipality. One of the Vanderbijlpark residents reported that on the 4th of March 2018 one of your vehicles from Emfuleni Local Municipality (Sports Department) were illegally dumping waste at an illegal dumping site at Stephano Park. Can you please investigate this matter urgently as Section 24 of the Constitution of South Africa of 1996 as well as the National Environmental Management Act states that everyone has a right to an environment which is free from harm to an individual's health and well-being and to sustain such an environment not only for present generations but for future generations as well. It will be really great if you can also send some manpower to Stephano Park to remove the illegal dumping site completely and to totally eliminate the environmental damage caused by as well as the negative health effects this illegal dumping area has on the community.
