STOLEN VEHICLES RECOVERED, BUT DAMAGED
CARLETONVILLE. - Fast action by a member of the public, the police and security personnel ensured that a vehicle was recovered within minutes of it being stolen in Oberholzer on Tuesday, 20 March.
According to the police, a man approached personnel at Slabbert Motors on Station Street and asked them to switch on the ignition of the vehicle so he could see the number of kilometres on the vehicle’s odometer. He then jumped in and sped off. As far as could be determined, a member of the public tried to stop him, resulting in him causing an accident on the offramp to the bridge to Khutsong. He was promptly arrested by the police. By Tuesday afternoon, he was still being treated at Carletonville Hospital, under police custody, for the injuries he sustained during the accident.
